Braille Library Service

The Braille Department of the library provides specialized service which is devoted to cater to the reading needs of the visually handicapped and cultivates reading habits among them. This department not only provides Braille books but also transcribes books in Braille. Every year new Braille books are added to stock through purchase or through transcription in Hindi and English language. The total collection of the Braille Department is 12,509. 

Services Provided by Braille Library:-

• Books Landing
• Transcribing into Braille from print books
• Internet & Email Facilities
• Mobile Library Service covers 18 blind Schools & Institutions all over Delhi.
• Periodical Services: Provide 14 Braille Magazines & News Papers to the visually impaired (Divyangjan)
• Purchase Braille books from other Institutions like - AICB Rohini, NFB Bahadurgarh, NAB Mumbai, NIVH Dehradun
• Delivery of Books / Reading materials by Post
• Reading Newspaper & Print material for visually impaired  (Divyangjan)

Total Membership: 1420

Infrastructure:-

• Three computer terminals for Readers
• One reading room for approximate 20 readers
• Public utility
• Drinking Water
• Desert cooler

Other Activities by Braille Library:- 

• Organize Annual Competition like Debate, Speech, Essay writing, music & Poetry recital for visually impaired  (Divyangjan)
• Organize prize distribution
• Organize Library Orientation Programme
